La Academia Mexicana de Pediatría es una asociación civil legalmente constituida el 6 de junio de 1951, como el cuerpo colegiado más alto de México en esta disciplina y que tiene como finalidad estudiar y ayudar a resolver todos los problemas médicos de la niñez mexicana, así como los de la enseñanza y difusión de la pediatría, convirtiéndose así en el cuerpo consultivo y consejero de los organismos oficiales y privados en todo lo relacionado con la salud de los niños...
El CONACEM tiene la naturaleza de organismo auxiliar de la Administración Pública Federal a efecto de supervisar los conocimientos, habilidades, destrezas, aptitudes y calificación de la pericia que se requiere para la certificación y renovación de la vigencia de la misma o recertificación, en las diferentes especialidades de la medicina que, para los efectos de su objeto, reconozca el CONACEM.
La supervisión a que se refiere el párrafo anterior se efectuará respecto de las tareas de certificación que corresponda a los CONSEJOS que cuentan con Idoneidad otorgada por el CONACEM…
El Consejo Mexicano de Certificación en Pediatría A.C. fue fundado el 21 de julio de 1980, en un esfuerzo conjunto de la Asociación Mexicana de Pediatría A.C. y la Confederación Nacional de Pediatría de México, agrupaciones que proporcionan sus representantes para la integración de las mesas directivas.
Quedó registrado en el volumen 1,574, escritura 73979, e inscrito en el Registro Público de personas morales civiles, en el folio real No. 2437 en la Cd. de México, D.F., el mes de diciembre de 1980, ante el Notario Público No. 54
